Hail Damage Repair in Lavon for Roofs, Hoods and Trunk Lids

Hail does not wait for you to get home. Whether it caught the truck in the driveway or halfway to Farmersville on SH 78, we count every dent and then look past them for whatever cracked.

(000) 000-0000 — describe the hail on your car

Hail Leaves More Than Dents

Out here a storm can roll in off the lake and drop ice on a car before you find a place to pull over. Most of the damage lands on whatever faces the sky, and a good share of it can be worked out without disturbing the paint. What gets missed is the rest of it: a cracked fog lamp lens, a split cowl panel, a chipped sunroof seal, a dented roof molding that starts letting water in come spring. We go over the whole car under lights before we write anything down, so the estimate covers what the hail actually hit. Then we explain which dents a rod can reach from underneath, which panels are stretched too far to save, and what the adjuster will probably push back on. You get a plain answer, not a sales pitch.

Covered in a Hail Job

Hail work is slow, careful work. Here is what it usually takes.

  • Marking every dent on every panel

We go over each panel under a reflective board and circle every dent with a wax pencil, so nothing gets left on the roof edge or the pillars.

  • Paintless pushes from behind

Where there is access, dents are eased up from underneath with long rods, and the original paint never sees a sander.

  • Pull tabs where rods can't reach

Double-walled spots such as roof rails get glue tabs on the outside and are lifted a little at a time.

  • Stretched skins swapped out

A hood or roof skin hit by large stones can stretch past saving, and we replace it rather than fill a sheet of dents.

  • Lamp lens crack check

Headlamp, tail lamp and marker lenses are checked for hairline cracks that later let in moisture and fog the housing.

  • Cowl, molding and mirror cap review

Plastic cowls, roof moldings and mirror caps crack under hail, and we list each one so it ends up on the claim.

  • Sunroof seal and windshield look

We inspect the sunroof panel, its seal and the windshield for chips and star breaks that started with the storm.

  • Last pass under the board

Before you come for it, we roll it back under the board and check off every circled dent.

The Hail Job in Three Stages

  1. 01

Pull in and let us look

After the weather clears, bring it over and the two of us will walk around it under the lights. Every dent gets marked and grouped by panel, and anything cracked gets photographed. If the car also caught road debris on the drive home, we note that separately. You go home with a written tally to pass along to your insurer.

  2. 02

Square the count with the adjuster

Hail is usually a comprehensive claim, and adjusters write their own count. We compare theirs with ours panel by panel and send photos where the numbers disagree. Nothing gets started until the scope is settled and you have agreed to it. If we find a cracked part after that, it goes in as a supplement.

  3. 03

Work the panels and hand it back

The dents get worked one panel at a time, the stretched pieces get replaced and refinished, and the trim and lenses go on last. We check the whole car again under the lights. When you collect it, we point to the finished roof and hood and go over each replaced part with you.

What You Can Count On With Hail Work

  • We look past the dents

A dented roof is easy to see. A hairline crack in a tail lamp lens is not, and it is the kind of thing that turns into a wet trunk later on.

  • Original finish left alone where possible

Working dents from underneath keeps the original paint and its corrosion protection. Paint gets sprayed only on a panel that cannot be saved otherwise.

  • No padding the count

We mark the dents that are there and nothing more. An honest count makes the claim go smoother for everybody.

Storm Caught You Out on the Highway?

Hail damage only gets harder to sort out the longer cracked lenses and trim sit through more weather. Give the shop a call and we will set a time to look the car over.
